Key Responsibilities
- Monitor patient conditions and vital signs throughout the night shift, accurately reporting any changes.
- Assist nursing staff with comprehensive patient care activities, including personal hygiene, mobility, and feeding, as required.
- Respond promptly and effectively to patient calls and emergencies, escalating critical issues to appropriate medical personnel without delay.
- Document observations, actions taken, and patient responses accurately and thoroughly in patient records.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe patient environment, ensuring adherence to infection control protocols.
- Provide emotional support and comfort to patients and their families, fostering a reassuring atmosphere.
- Administer basic first aid and emergency care under direct supervision, in compliance with established protocols.
- Ensure the confidentiality and privacy of all patient information and records at all times.
- Collaborate effectively with the night shift medical team, including nurses and doctors, to ensure seamless care delivery.
- Prepare and organize medical equipment and supplies for the night shift, ensuring availability and proper functioning.
Required Skills
- Strong observational and patient assessment skills to identify changes in patient status.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities for effective interaction with patients, families, and staff.
- Ability to remain calm, focused, and effective in stressful or emergency situations.
- Proficient in basic computer applications for documentation and record-keeping.

- Physical stamina to stand, walk, and assist with lifting/moving patients as needed for extended periods.

- Certification in First Aid and Basic Life Support (BLS).
- Minimum of one year of experience working in a hospital, clinic, or long-term care facility, particularly on night shifts.
- Solid knowledge of common medical terminology.
- Familiarity with electronic health records (EHR) systems.
- Additional language proficiency (e.g., French, Creole) relevant to the local population of Mauritius.
