Career.zycto is seeking a highly skilled and meticulous Part-Time Medical Transcriptionist to join our dedicated team in Thunder Bay. This pivotal role involves converting dictated medical reports, summaries, and correspondence into accurate written documents, playing a crucial part in maintaining precise patient records and facilitating effective healthcare delivery. As a Medical Transcriptionist, you will be responsible for listening to recorded dictations from physicians and other healthcare professionals and transcribing them into clear, grammatically correct, and comprehensive medical reports. Accuracy, confidentiality, and speed are paramount in this role, as your work directly impacts patient care, billing, and legal documentation. We are looking for an individual with a strong understanding of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and pharmaceutical terms, along with an exceptional command of the English language, including grammar, spelling, and punctuation. The ideal candidate will possess excellent listening skills, a keen eye for detail, and the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently under tight deadlines. Key Responsibilities

  • Transcribe dictated medical reports, including patient histories, physicals, operative notes, consultation notes, discharge summaries, and other medical documents, accurately and efficiently.
  • Verify the accuracy and completeness of medical reports, correcting any errors in grammar, spelling, punctuation, or medical terminology.
  • Adhere strictly to confidentiality protocols (e.g., HIPAA, PHIPA) and patient privacy regulations.
  • Utilize medical reference materials, dictionaries, and transcription software effectively to ensure precision.
  • Manage and prioritize workload to meet established turnaround times and deadlines.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of medical terminology, procedures, and healthcare documentation standards.
  • Communicate effectively with healthcare professionals and team members regarding any discrepancies or clarifications needed in dictations.
  • Ensure all transcribed documents conform to organizational templates and formatting guidelines.

Required Skills

  • Proficiency in medical terminology, anatomy, pharmacology, and disease processes.
