Key Responsibilities
- Accurately transcribe dictated medical reports, including patient histories, physical exams, operative notes, consultation reports, and discharge summaries.
- Ensure all transcribed documents adhere to medical, legal, and ethical standards, maintaining strict patient confidentiality (HIPAA compliance).
- Review and edit transcribed reports for grammar, spelling, punctuation, and consistency, making necessary corrections.
- Verify the accuracy of patient demographics and other identifying information in each report.
- Utilize reference materials and medical dictionaries to ensure correct spelling and usage of medical terms.
- Manage transcription workflow efficiently to meet daily productivity and turnaround time requirements.
- Communicate effectively with healthcare professionals regarding clarification of dictations when necessary.
- Maintain knowledge of current medical terminology, disease processes, and treatment methods.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a Medical Transcriptionist
- Exceptional knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and pharmacology
- Proficiency in grammar, spelling, and punctuation
- Outstanding listening skills and ability to accurately interpret dictation, including accents and difficult pronunciations
- Fast and accurate typing speed (minimum 60 WPM)
