Key Responsibilities

  • Administer prescribed medications to residents accurately and safely, following all physician orders and facility policies.
  • Document medication administration meticulously and promptly in resident records, including noting any adverse reactions.
  • Observe residents for any changes in condition, physical, mental, or emotional, and report observations immediately to the supervising nurse.
  • Assist residents with activities of daily living (ADLs) as needed, including personal hygiene, dressing, and mobility, while promoting independence.
  • Ensure the medication cart and storage areas are kept clean, organized, and secure, adhering to infection control guidelines.
  • Monitor medication supplies and communicate reorder needs to the supervising nurse to prevent stock shortages.
  • Provide emotional support and companionship to residents, fostering a caring and respectful environment.
  • Communicate effectively with residents, families, and healthcare team members regarding resident care and needs.
  • Participate in care planning meetings and interdisciplinary team collaborations as requested.
  • Adhere strictly to all state and federal regulations, as well as company policies and procedures regarding medication administration and resident care.

  • Previous experience in a healthcare setting (volunteer or paid).
  • Familiarity with electronic health records (EHR) systems.
