Job Description

Winners Supermarket in Curepipe is seeking an enthusiastic and meticulous Merchandiser to elevate our in-store display standards and enhance the overall shopping experience. Key Responsibilities
- Design and implement creative, appealing, and effective product displays and visual merchandising layouts in adherence to brand guidelines and promotional campaigns.
- Monitor and maintain optimal stock levels on shelves, ensuring products are always available and neatly arranged, utilizing 'first-in, first-out' (FIFO) principles for perishable goods.
- Place and update pricing labels, promotional signage, and informative materials accurately and clearly throughout the store.
- Regularly inspect all display areas for cleanliness, orderliness, and product integrity, addressing any issues promptly.
- Collaborate closely with store managers and sales teams to understand inventory movement, sales data, and upcoming promotions to adjust merchandising efforts accordingly.
- Receive, unpack, and organize incoming merchandise, ensuring efficient storage and timely replenishment of shelves.
- Conduct competitive analysis of merchandising strategies in the local market and provide actionable insights to management.
- Assist customers with product inquiries, location, and recommendations, providing exceptional service when on the sales floor.
- Ensure all safety and hygiene standards are met within display areas and the general store environment.
- Prepare regular reports on merchandising activities, stock conditions, and display effectiveness.
Required Skills
- A minimum of 1 year of proven experience in a merchandising, visual display, or similar retail role.
- Demonstrated ability to create attractive and effective product displays.
- Excellent organizational skills with meticulous attention to detail.
- Strong understanding of stock management and inventory rotation principles.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and physically demanding retail environment.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills for effective team collaboration.
- Basic proficiency in using retail software or inventory management systems.
Preferred Qualifications
- A Diploma or Certificate in Retail Management, Marketing, or Visual Merchandising.
- Prior experience working within a supermarket or hypermarket setting.
- Familiarity with local consumer trends and preferences in the Mauritian market.
- Proficiency in both English and French (Creole proficiency is a plus).
