Job Description
Career.zycto is seeking a highly motivated and skilled Meteorologist to join our dedicated team in Kreuzberg, Berlin. This full-time position offers an exciting opportunity to apply your expertise in atmospheric science to real-world challenges, contributing to accurate forecasting, climate analysis, and vital environmental research. As a Meteorologist, you will play a crucial role in gathering, analyzing, and interpreting meteorological data from various sources, including radar, satellite imagery, and weather stations. Your primary responsibilities will include developing and disseminating precise weather forecasts for diverse applications, from public safety warnings to sector-specific operational planning.
Beyond daily forecasting, this role involves significant work in climate modeling, trend analysis, and assessing the impacts of atmospheric conditions on local and regional environments. You will be instrumental in identifying patterns, predicting severe weather events, and providing expert advice to internal teams and external stakeholders. We are looking for a professional who is not only adept at utilizing advanced meteorological software and numerical weather prediction models but also possesses exceptional communication skills to clearly articulate complex scientific information to non-technical audiences. Key Responsibilities
- Collect, analyze, and interpret meteorological data from a variety of sources including radar, satellite, and ground stations.
- Develop and issue accurate short-term and long-term weather forecasts, warnings, and advisories.
- Utilize and interpret numerical weather prediction models and other advanced meteorological software.
- Conduct climate trend analysis, climate modeling, and impact assessments of atmospheric phenomena.
- Prepare and deliver clear, concise meteorological briefings and reports to internal teams and external clients.
- Participate in research projects aimed at improving forecasting methodologies and understanding atmospheric processes.
- Monitor and evaluate forecast accuracy, implementing adjustments and improvements as necessary.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to integrate meteorological data into broader environmental and operational planning.
- Stay informed about the latest advancements in meteorology, climatology, and related technologies.
Required Skills
- Master’s degree in Meteorology, Atmospheric Science, or a closely related field.
- Proven experience with numerical weather prediction models and meteorological software (e.g., GRADS, WRF, Python libraries for data analysis).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with meticulous attention to detail.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
- Proficiency in data visualization and reporting.
Preferred Qualifications
- Ph.D. in Meteorology or Atmospheric Science.
- Fluency in German (B2 level or higher).
- Experience with GIS software for spatial data analysis.
