Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and enthusiastic Microservices Developer to join our growing technology team in Bramley, Leeds. As a pivotal member of our engineering department, you will be instrumental in designing, developing, and maintaining our next-generation cloud-native applications built on a robust microservices architecture. Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and deploy scalable, high-performance microservices using modern programming languages and frameworks.
  • Collaborate with architects and other developers to define and implement microservices architecture patterns and best practices.
  • Write clean, maintainable, and testable code, adhering to TDD/BDD principles.
  • Integrate microservices with various data stores, message queues (e.g., Kafka), and third-party APIs.
  • Participate in code reviews, ensuring code quality, security, and adherence to established standards.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of our CI/CD pipelines, automating deployment and testing processes.
  • Troubleshoot and debug production issues, providing timely resolutions and post-mortem analyses.
  • Stay abreast of emerging technologies and industry trends, advocating for their adoption where appropriate.

Required Skills

  • Proficiency in Java (e.g., Spring Boot) or a similar backend language (e.g., Go, Node.js).
  • Strong experience with designing and implementing RESTful APIs and event-driven architectures.
  • Solid understanding of microservices architecture principles, patterns, and best practices.
  • Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.
  • Familiarity with containerization technologies (Docker) and orchestration (Kubernetes).
  • Proficiency with version control systems, particularly Git.
  • Experience with relational and NoSQL databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Cassandra).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience with message brokers like Kafka, RabbitMQ, or activeMQ.
  • Familiarity with DevOps practices and tools (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab CI, Terraform).
  • Understanding of security best practices in microservices environments.
