As a Mining Engineer at Career.zycto, you will be instrumental in all phases of mining project development, from initial feasibility studies and design to operational optimisation and closure planning. Your work will encompass a broad spectrum of technical challenges, requiring a strong foundation in geological principles, rock mechanics, mine planning software, and health and safety regulations. You will collaborate closely with geologists, environmental specialists, and other engineers to develop comprehensive and sustainable mining solutions. Key Responsibilities
- Conduct feasibility studies, economic evaluations, and risk assessments for new and existing mining projects.
- Develop detailed mine plans, including excavation designs, haulage routes, ventilation systems, and infrastructure layouts.
- Optimize mining operations to enhance productivity, reduce costs, and ensure compliance with safety and environmental standards.
- Utilize mining software (e.g., Surpac, Vulcan, MineSight) for resource modeling, design, and scheduling.
- Monitor project progress, analyze operational data, and implement corrective actions as necessary.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including geologists, metallurgists, and environmental specialists.
- Prepare comprehensive technical reports, presentations, and project documentation.
- Ensure strict adherence to health, safety, and environmental regulations and best practices.
- Participate in site visits and inspections, providing technical guidance and support.
- Mentor junior engineers and contribute to the professional development of the team.
Required Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering or a related field.
- Minimum of 3 years of progressive experience in mining operations or consulting.
- Proficiency with industry-standard mine planning and design software (e.g., Surpac, Vulcan, MineSight).
- Strong understanding of geological principles, rock mechanics, and mine ventilation.
- Demonstrated knowledge of health, safety, and environmental regulations in the mining industry.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills, capable of presenting complex technical information.
- Proven ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
