Key Responsibilities

  • Assist embalmers and funeral directors with the preparation of deceased individuals, including dressing, casketing, and transferring.
  • Maintain the cleanliness, sterilization, and organization of the mortuary, equipment, and preparation rooms to the highest standards.
  • Ensure proper handling, labeling, and storage of remains and personal effects with utmost respect and adherence to protocols.
  • Assist in receiving and releasing deceased individuals, verifying identities and documentation accurately.
  • Operate and maintain specialized mortuary equipment safely and effectively.
  • Adhere strictly to all health, safety, and environmental regulations and best practices.
  • Provide support during funeral services or visitations as needed, including setting up and dismantling service areas.
  • Document procedures and activities accurately and maintain confidential records.

Required Skills

  • Demonstrated empathy, compassion, and sensitivity when working with the deceased and bereaved families.
  • Excellent attention to detail and precision in all tasks.
  • Ability to follow strict protocols and procedures accurately.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Physical stamina and the ability to lift and maneuver heavy loads.
  • Proficiency in maintaining cleanliness and hygiene standards.
  • Valid driver's license (Class B/car license) is often required for transfers.
  • Fluent in German (B2 level or higher) and good command of English.
