Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive vehicle safety inspections (equivalent to MOTs) in accordance with Nova Scotia provincial standards and regulations.
- Perform thorough checks on all critical components including braking systems, steering, suspension, tires, lighting, and exhaust systems.
- Accurately record inspection findings, document defects, and provide clear explanations to service advisors.
- Utilize diagnostic tools and equipment to assess vehicle performance and identify underlying issues.
- Advise on necessary repairs or adjustments to ensure vehicles meet safety and environmental compliance standards.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
- Adhere strictly to all health and safety protocols and workplace procedures.
- Stay updated with the latest vehicle technology and inspection methodologies.
- Collaborate effectively with service teams to ensure efficient workflow and customer satisfaction.
Required Skills
- Valid MOT Tester certification or equivalent international qualification (e.g., UK MOT Tester, EU equivalent)
- Minimum of 2 years of proven experience as an MOT Tester or Vehicle Inspector
- Strong knowledge of automotive mechanics and vehicle inspection processes
- Proficiency in using diagnostic equipment and tools
- Excellent attention to detail and analytical skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
- Commitment to upholding safety standards and regulatory compliance
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
Preferred Qualifications
- Red Seal certification in Automotive Service Technician (or willingness to obtain)
- Experience with various makes and models of vehicles
