Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and passionate Remote Music Editor with exceptional audio mixing abilities to join our dynamic content creation team. As a vital member of RBA, you will be instrumental in shaping the sonic landscape of our diverse programming, from documentaries and dramas to news segments and cultural features. This remote role offers the flexibility to work from anywhere within Gasabo, Kigali Province, while collaborating closely with producers, directors, and sound engineers across various departments. Your primary responsibility will be to meticulously edit, synchronize, and mix music and audio elements to enhance storytelling, evoke emotion, and ensure a pristine, broadcast-ready sound. You will work with a wide range of audio files, including orchestral scores, foley, sound effects, and voiceovers, blending them seamlessly to create immersive and compelling audio experiences.

This position demands a keen ear for detail, a deep understanding of audio aesthetics, and a proven ability to meet strict deadlines in a fast-paced media environment. You will be expected to maintain technical consistency and adhere to RBA’s high standards for audio quality and broadcast specifications. Key Responsibilities

  • Edit, synchronize, and mix music for a variety of broadcast and digital content, ensuring high-quality audio output.
  • Collaborate with producers, directors, and content creators to understand project requirements and creative vision.
  • Perform audio clean-up, noise reduction, and equalization to achieve optimal sound clarity.
  • Integrate sound effects, dialogue, and other audio elements seamlessly with musical scores.
  • Ensure all audio adheres to broadcast standards, loudness specifications, and RBA's internal guidelines.
  • Manage and organize audio assets, maintaining an efficient workflow and proper archiving.
  • Provide creative input and suggestions for music selection and sound design to enhance storytelling.
  • Stay updated with the latest audio editing software, mixing techniques, and industry best practices.
  • Troubleshoot audio-related issues and provide solutions in a timely manner.
  • Participate in remote review sessions and implement feedback effectively.

Required Skills

  • Proficiency in industry-standard Digital Audio Workstations (DAWs) such as Pro Tools, Logic Pro X, or Adobe Audition.
  • Demonstrable experience in music editing, audio mixing, and sound design for broadcast or film.
  • Strong understanding of audio principles, acoustics, and signal processing.
  • Excellent ear for detail, rhythm, and timing.
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively in a remote environment.
  • Proficiency with audio plugins, virtual instruments, and effects processing.
  • Familiarity with various audio file formats and conversion techniques.
  • Strong communication and collaborative skills.
  • Problem-solving abilities and a proactive attitude.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Music Production, Audio Engineering, Sound Design, or a related field.
  • Experience with broadcast audio systems and delivery specifications.
  • Knowledge of Rwandan music genres and cultural soundscapes.
  • Basic video editing skills for synchronization purposes.
  • Portfolio or reel demonstrating past music editing and mixing projects.
