Key Responsibilities
- Develop and deliver engaging music lessons for students across various age groups and abilities.
- Cultivate a positive, inclusive, and stimulating learning environment for all students.
- Design and implement a comprehensive music curriculum covering performance, theory, and appreciation.
- Organize, direct, and expand extracurricular music activities, including choirs, ensembles, and instrumental groups.
- Prepare students for internal and external music examinations, performances, and competitions.
- Assess student progress regularly, provide constructive feedback, and maintain accurate records.
- Collaborate with colleagues on cross-curricular projects and school-wide events.
- Integrate music technology into teaching practices to enhance student learning and engagement.
- Oversee the maintenance and inventory of musical instruments and equipment.
- Communicate effectively with parents/guardians regarding student progress and participation.
Required Skills
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent recognized teaching qualification.
- Bachelor's degree in Music, Music Education, or a related field.
- Proven experience teaching music in a primary or secondary school setting.
- Proficiency in at least two musical instruments (one being piano or guitar).
- Strong understanding of music theory, history, and diverse musical genres.
- Excellent classroom management and pedagogical skills.
- Exceptional communication, interpersonal, and organizational abilities.
- Ability to inspire and motivate students of all ages and abilities.
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people (DBS required).
