Career.zycto is seeking an experienced and highly skilled Network Administrator with a strong focus on Systems Management to join our dynamic IT team in Embakasi, Nairobi. This professional role is critical to maintaining the integrity, security, and efficiency of our network infrastructure and various interconnected systems. You will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations of our network, ensuring optimal performance, managing system configurations, and implementing robust security measures. This position requires a proactive individual with a deep understanding of network protocols, server administration, virtualization technologies, and cloud environments. You will play a pivotal role in designing, deploying, and troubleshooting complex network solutions, contributing directly to the uninterrupted flow of our business operations and client services. Key Responsibilities
- Design, implement, configure, and maintain network infrastructure including routers, switches, firewalls, and VPNs.
- Monitor network performance and availability, troubleshooting issues and ensuring maximum uptime.
- Administer Windows and Linux servers, including installation, configuration, patching, and performance tuning.
- Manage virtualization platforms (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V) and cloud-based services (e.g., AWS, Azure).
- Implement and enforce network security policies and procedures, including access controls, intrusion detection, and data encryption.
- Perform regular system backups and disaster recovery planning and testing.
- Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation for network configurations, procedures, and system inventory.
- Collaborate with other IT teams and departments to support business applications and resolve technical issues.
- Evaluate new network and system technologies, recommending and implementing improvements.
- Provide technical support and guidance to end-users on network and system-related concerns.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a Network Administrator with Systems Management focus (4+ years).
- In-depth knowledge of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPN, VLANs, and routing protocols (OSPF, BGP).
- Proficiency in administering Windows Server (Active Directory, Group Policy) and Linux environments.
- Experience with network security best practices and tools (firewalls, IDS/IPS, SIEM).
- Solid understanding of virtualization technologies (VMware, Hyper-V).
- Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure) and their networking components.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Relevant certifications (e.g., CCNA, CCNP, MCSA, CompTIA Network+, Security+).
- Experience with scripting languages (e.g., PowerShell, Python) for automation.
- Knowledge of storage area networks (SAN) and network attached storage (NAS).
- Experience with ITIL framework and service management principles.
