Key Responsibilities
- Design, implement, configure, and maintain local area networks (LANs), wide area networks (WANs), and other network segments.
- Monitor network performance and ensure system availability and reliability, performing network diagnostics and identifying root causes of issues.
- Establish and maintain network security, including managing firewalls, VPNs, intrusion detection/prevention systems (IDS/IPS), and access controls.
- Provide advanced troubleshooting and resolution for network-related incidents and problems, offering expert-level support to end-users and other IT teams.
- Perform regular network upgrades, patching, and configuration changes to ensure optimal performance, security, and compliance.
- Develop and maintain comprehensive network documentation, including diagrams, configurations, and procedural guides.
- Collaborate with other IT teams (e.g., systems, cloud, development) to ensure seamless integration and support for IT infrastructure.
- Participate in on-call rotation for critical network issues and provide out-of-hours support when required.
- Evaluate and recommend new network technologies and solutions to enhance efficiency, security, and scalability.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a Network Engineer or similar role, with a strong focus on connectivity and security.
- In-depth understanding of networking protocols (e.g., TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, EIGRP).
- Solid experience with Cisco and/or Juniper routing and switching platforms.
- Proficiency in firewall management and configuration (e.g., Cisco ASA, Palo Alto, Fortinet).
- Experience with VPN technologies (IPsec, SSL VPN).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to diagnose complex network issues.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of working effectively within a team and interacting with stakeholders.
- Relevant certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, JNCIS, or equivalent.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Experience with cloud networking (Azure, AWS, GCP).
- Knowledge of network automation tools (e.g., Ansible, Python scripting).
- Familiarity with VoIP and QoS principles.
- Experience with SD-WAN technologies.
- Industry certifications like CCIE, JNCIP, or CISSP are highly desirable.
