Key Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and manage secure and scalable network solutions across various platforms, ensuring optimal performance and reliability.
- Configure, maintain, and troubleshoot network hardware, including routers, switches, firewalls, and wireless access points (Cisco, Juniper, Fortinet, etc.).
- Monitor network performance, analyse traffic patterns, identify bottlenecks, and implement optimisations to ensure maximum uptime and efficiency.
- Develop, implement, and enforce comprehensive network security policies and procedures to protect against cyber threats and ensure regulatory compliance.
- Conduct regular vulnerability assessments and penetration testing to identify and remediate security weaknesses within the network infrastructure.
- Respond promptly and effectively to network security incidents, performing root cause analysis and implementing preventative measures.
- Provide expert-level technical support for all network-related issues, collaborating with other IT teams and stakeholders to resolve complex problems.
- Maintain comprehensive documentation of network configurations, diagrams, operational procedures, and incident reports.
- Participate in an on-call rotation to provide 24/7 support for critical network infrastructure, ensuring high availability.
- Stay abreast of emerging network technologies, security trends, and industry best practices, recommending and implementing improvements where beneficial.
Required Skills
- Proven experience with TCP/IP networking, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, and network segmentation.
- In-depth knowledge of routing protocols such as BGP, OSPF, EIGRP.
- Hands-on experience with major networking vendors like Cisco, Juniper, or HP.
- Proficiency in firewall configuration and management (e.g., Fortinet, Palo Alto Networks, Cisco ASA).
- Experience with VPN technologies (IPSec, SSL VPN) and remote access solutions.
- Strong understanding of network security principles, methodologies, and best practices.
- Proficiency in network monitoring and diagnostic tools (e.g., Wireshark, SolarWinds, PRTG).
- Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills for complex network issues.
- Solid communication and interpersonal skills, capable of explaining technical concepts clearly to diverse audiences.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Relevant industry certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, JNCIA, CompTIA Security+.
- Experience with cloud networking platforms (e.g., AWS VPC, Azure VNet, Google Cloud VPN).
- Familiarity with scripting languages (e.g., Python, Bash) for network automation and configuration management.
- Knowledge of Software-Defined Wide Area Network (SD-WAN) technologies and implementations.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related technical field.
