Key Responsibilities

  • Assist senior network technicians with the installation, configuration, and maintenance of network hardware and software.
  • Perform basic troubleshooting of network connectivity issues (e.g., cabling, port status, IP configuration) and physical layer problems.
  • Monitor network performance and alerts using specified tools, escalating complex issues to appropriate senior personnel for resolution.
  • Document network configurations, inventory changes, and troubleshooting steps accurately in internal systems.
  • Support users with basic network-related inquiries and access issues, providing first-level assistance.
  • Conduct routine physical checks on network equipment (routers, switches, firewalls, Wi-Fi access points) to ensure operational integrity.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of network closets, server rooms, and technical workspaces.
  • Participate in scheduled network upgrades and patching activities under direct supervision.
  • Adhere strictly to all company security policies and operational procedures.

Required Skills

  • Basic understanding of networking concepts (TCP/IP, LAN/WAN, DNS, DHCP).
  • Familiarity with operating systems (Windows; Linux command line familiarity is a plus).
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and exceptional attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a customer-focused approach.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
  • Proficiency with standard office software applications (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite, Google Workspace).
  • Physical ability to lift and move network equipment up to 25 lbs (approx. 11 kg).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Currently pursuing or recently completed a diploma or degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Network Administration, or a related technical field.
  • Familiarity with common network diagnostic tools (e.g., ping, tracert, ipconfig, netstat).
  • Relevant entry-level certifications such as CompTIA A+ or Network+ (or actively working towards them).
  • Previous experience in a technical support, help desk, or similar IT-related role.
