Job Description

Fossey Communications is seeking a dedicated, proactive, and client-focused Network Support Coordinator to join our dynamic technical team in Lethbridge, Alberta. In this critical full-time role, you will be a primary point of contact for our valued clients, ensuring the stability, security, and optimal performance of their essential network infrastructure. You will be responsible for expertly diagnosing and resolving a wide array of network-related issues, ranging from intricate connectivity problems and firewall configurations to server accessibility and complex routing challenges. This position demands a keen eye for detail, exceptional problem-solving abilities, and an unwavering customer-centric approach to support. You will work closely with clients to thoroughly understand their unique needs, communicate intricate technical information clearly and concisely, and provide effective, lasting solutions in a timely manner. Key Responsibilities

  • Provide first and second-level technical support for network-related issues, including LAN/WAN, Wi-Fi, VPN, firewalls, and routing protocols, ensuring rapid resolution.
  • Diagnose and resolve hardware and software problems affecting network performance, connectivity, and security for client systems, often requiring on-site visits.
  • Respond promptly to client inquiries and service requests, managing a ticket queue and prioritizing issues based on urgency and business impact.
  • Configure, install, and maintain various network devices such as routers, switches, access points, and firewalls according to best practices and client specifications.
  • Perform proactive network monitoring to identify potential issues, analyze trends, and ensure system uptime and optimal performance for all managed networks.
  • Document network configurations, troubleshooting steps, incident resolutions, and create comprehensive knowledge base articles for internal and client reference.
  • Collaborate effectively with senior network engineers and other IT professionals to escalate complex issues and implement strategic, long-term solutions.
  • Assist in the planning, deployment, and execution of new network infrastructure and upgrades, ensuring minimal disruption to client operations.
  • Educate clients on best practices for network usage, security protocols, and basic troubleshooting, enhancing their understanding and self-sufficiency.

Required Skills

  • Minimum 3 years of progressive experience in network support or a similar IT role.
  • Solid understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, and common networking protocols (e.g., OSPF, BGP).
  • Proficiency in troubleshooting LAN/WAN connectivity issues and network performance bottlenecks.
  • Hands-on experience with configuring and managing various network hardware including routers, switches, and firewalls (e.g., Cisco, Ubiquiti, FortiGate, Meraki).
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a strong commitment to delivering exceptional customer service.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities with a methodical approach to technical challenges.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities, projects, and client requests effectively while maintaining high standards.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Relevant industry certifications such as CompTIA Network+, CCNA (Cisco Certified Network Associate), or equivalent.
  • Experience with virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware vSphere, Microsoft Hyper-V) and cloud networking.
  • Familiarity with network monitoring tools and systems (e.g., PRTG, Nagios, SolarWinds).
  • Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Computer Science, Information Technology, Network Administration, or a related field.
  • Experience with PowerShell scripting or other automation tools for network tasks.
