Career.zycto is actively seeking a dedicated and skilled Network Technician to join our setup team in Malindi, Kilifi County. This is an exciting opportunity for an individual with a strong foundation in network infrastructure and a passion for deploying reliable, high-performance systems. As a key member of our setup team, you will be instrumental in the physical installation, configuration, and testing of network equipment across various client sites. This role demands a hands-on approach, keen attention to detail, and the ability to troubleshoot complex issues efficiently in the field. Key Responsibilities
- Execute the physical installation, termination, and testing of network cables (fiber optic, Ethernet) according to industry best practices and project specifications.
- Install, configure, and provision network hardware including routers, switches, access points, firewalls, and servers at client premises.
- Perform on-site network diagnostics, troubleshooting, and repairs to resolve connectivity issues promptly and efficiently.
- Collaborate with project managers and clients to understand requirements and ensure smooth deployment of network solutions.
- Document network configurations, installation procedures, and troubleshooting steps accurately for future reference and knowledge transfer.
- Conduct site surveys to assess network infrastructure needs and identify potential challenges or opportunities.
- Provide technical support and guidance to clients during and after the setup phase.
- Adhere to safety protocols and quality standards during all installation and maintenance activities.
- Participate in ongoing training and professional development to stay current with emerging network technologies and best practices.
Required Skills
- Proficiency in network cabling (Cat5e, Cat6, fiber optic) installation and termination.
- Strong understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, and other core networking protocols.
- Experience with configuring and troubleshooting Cisco, Ubiquiti, Mikrotik, or similar network devices.
- Familiarity with network diagnostic tools (e.g., cable testers, Wi-Fi analyzers, packet sniffers).
- Ability to read and interpret network diagrams and schematics.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Valid driver's license and ability to travel to various client sites within Malindi and surrounding areas.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Relevant certifications such as CompTIA Network+, CCNA, JNCIA, or equivalent.
- Experience with wireless network design and implementation.
- Knowledge of IP surveillance systems and VoIP technologies.
- Previous experience working in an ISP or telecommunications environment.
