Key Responsibilities
- Safely and efficiently transport personnel, volunteers, beneficiaries, and various goods (e.g., food, medical supplies, equipment) to designated locations as per schedules or urgent requests.
- Perform daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections of vehicles, ensuring all vehicles are in excellent working condition and reporting any defects or necessary repairs promptly.
- Maintain accurate daily vehicle logs, including mileage, fuel consumption, and journey details.
- Adhere strictly to all traffic laws, organizational policies, and safety regulations to ensure the security of passengers and cargo.
- Assist with the loading and unloading of goods, ensuring items are securely stored and transported.
- Maintain the cleanliness and hygiene of the vehicle interior and exterior.
- Manage basic administrative tasks related to transport, such as acquiring necessary permits or documentation for specific routes.
- Represent the NGO professionally and courteously in all interactions with staff, beneficiaries, and external partners.
- Assist with field logistics as required, including setting up and dismantling equipment for events or distributions.
- Maintain confidentiality and discretion regarding all organizational activities and sensitive information.
Required Skills
- Valid UK Driving Licence (Category B minimum) with a clean driving record.
- Proven experience as a professional driver, preferably in a logistical or field-based role.
- Excellent knowledge of local roads and routes within Great Barr, Birmingham, and surrounding areas.
- Strong understanding and adherence to road safety regulations and driving best practices.
- Ability to perform basic vehicle maintenance checks and troubleshooting.
