Career.zycto is seeking a dedicated and vigilant Night Dispatcher to join our operations team in West Lethbridge. This pivotal full-time role is crucial for maintaining the seamless flow of our logistics and transportation activities during the overnight hours. As a Night Dispatcher, you will be the central hub of communication, responsible for coordinating drivers, monitoring routes, and ensuring timely deliveries and pickups. Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate and dispatch drivers and vehicles efficiently during the night shift, optimizing routes and schedules.
- Monitor routes, schedules, and driver performance using GPS tracking and advanced dispatch software, proactively addressing deviations.
- Communicate critical information to drivers, ensuring adherence to safety regulations, company policies, and delivery instructions.
- Respond promptly and effectively to driver inquiries, emergencies, and unforeseen operational issues, providing real-time support.
- Maintain accurate logs, records, and reports related to dispatch activities, vehicle status, and delivery completion.
- Collaborate with other departments (e.g., maintenance, customer service) to ensure smooth transitions between shifts and consistent service.
- Proactively identify and resolve potential service disruptions or delays, implementing contingency plans as needed.
- Ensure compliance with all local, provincial, and federal transportation regulations, including Hours of Service (HOS).
- Provide exceptional customer service to clients regarding delivery statuses, estimated times of arrival, and issue resolution.
Required Skills
- Proven experience (minimum 2 years) in a dispatch or logistics coordination role, preferably within a night shift environment.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills for effective interaction with drivers, colleagues, and clients.
- Strong geographical knowledge of Lethbridge, Southern Alberta, and surrounding transportation networks.
- Proficiency with modern dispatch software, GPS systems, and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Ability to make quick, sound decisions independently under pressure and manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
- Excellent organizational and multitasking capabilities with a keen eye for detail.
- Demonstrated reliability, punctuality, and a strong work ethic essential for night shift operations.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills to resolve operational challenges efficiently.
Preferred Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent; post-secondary education or certification in logistics, supply chain management, or a related field is a definite asset.
- Previous experience with specific industry dispatch platforms (e.g., McLeod, TMW Systems, MercuryGate).
- Knowledge of transportation regulations, including dangerous goods handling and weight restrictions.
- Class 5 driver's license with a clean abstract.
- First aid and CPR certification.
