Key Responsibilities
- Conduct regular security rounds of the premises, ensuring all areas are secure and reporting any irregularities.
- Manage late check-ins and early check-outs efficiently and courteously, including payment processing.
- Respond promptly and professionally to all guest inquiries and requests, offering exceptional service and problem resolution.
- Prepare and serve continental breakfast items or light refreshments as required by hotel policy.
- Handle incoming calls and direct them appropriately, taking accurate messages when necessary.
- Assist guests with luggage and other needs upon arrival or departure, ensuring a smooth transition.
- Perform light administrative duties, including preparing daily reports, auditing accounts, and processing payments.
- Ensure the reception area and common spaces are tidy, clean, and welcoming throughout the night.
- Act as the primary point of contact for all guest needs and emergencies during night hours, coordinating with relevant departments.
- Maintain strict confidentiality of guest information and hotel operations at all times.
- Monitor CCTV systems and alarms, responding to any alerts as per established security protocols.
Required Skills
- Proven experience in a customer service or hospitality role, preferably in a night-time capacity.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal, for effective guest interaction.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow procedures accurately and consistently.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and make sound decisions under pressure.
- Proficiency with hotel management systems (PMS) and standard office software (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite).
- A calm, professional, and discreet demeanour, capable of handling sensitive situations.
- Ability to handle cash and card transactions securely and accurately.
- Physical stamina to perform security rounds across the property and assist with luggage as needed.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience specifically as a Night Porter or Night Auditor in a reputable hotel.
- First Aid and Fire Safety certification.
- Knowledge of local Edinburgh attractions, transport, and services to assist guests.
- Ability to speak additional languages to cater to a diverse international clientele.
