Key Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough internal and external patrols of the premises, meticulously identifying and reporting any security risks, unusual activities, or potential maintenance issues.
- Monitor advanced surveillance cameras (CCTV) and alarm systems diligently, responding promptly and appropriately to any alerts, suspicious observations, or breaches.
- Strictly control and manage access points to the property, accurately verifying identification for authorized personnel and visitors, and issuing temporary passes as required.
- Respond calmly, effectively, and according to established protocols to all emergencies, including but not limited to medical incidents, fires, security alarms, and disturbances.
- Prepare comprehensive, accurate, and timely incident reports, daily activity logs, and other required documentation, ensuring all details are captured.
- Enforce all company policies and procedures rigorously to ensure a safe, secure, and compliant environment for all occupants and assets.
- Conduct initial investigations into security incidents, gathering relevant evidence, interviewing witnesses, and providing detailed accounts to management.
- Maintain a highly visible, professional, and authoritative presence to act as a significant deterrent to criminal activity and ensure order.
- Operate and troubleshoot various security equipment, including two-way radios, advanced access control systems, and monitoring software.
- Provide clear, concise, and professional communication with management, fellow security personnel, and emergency services as dictated by operational needs.
Required Skills
- Possession of a current and valid Alberta Security Services Licence (SSIA).
- Current Standard First Aid and CPR/AED Level C certification.
- Demonstrated strong observational and analytical skills with a keen eye for detail and identifying anomalies.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English for clear reporting, instruction, and interaction.
- Physical capability to stand, walk, and patrol for extended periods, and perform duties under various weather conditions.
- Proficiency in basic computer applications (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite, email, security software interfaces).
- Proven ability to work independently with minimal supervision and make sound, rapid decisions in high-pressure situations.
- Reliable personal transportation to ensure punctuality and attendance for scheduled night shifts.
- A clean criminal record check and security clearance suitable for security employment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Minimum 6 months to 1 year of progressive experience in a security role, with a preference for night operations or lone-worker environments.
- Proficiency and experience with various security software platforms, advanced CCTV systems, and integrated access control technologies.
- Completion of post-secondary education or a diploma in Security Management, Criminology, Law Enforcement, or a related field.
- Demonstrated training and experience in conflict resolution, de-escalation techniques, and non-violent crisis intervention.
- Additional certifications such as WHMIS, Use of Force, or Defensive Tactics.
