Key Responsibilities
- Provide person-centered care and support to residents during the night shift, ensuring their comfort, safety, and well-being.
- Assist residents with personal care tasks as needed, including toileting, mobility, and changing, maintaining dignity and respect.
- Monitor residents' health and welfare throughout the night, observing for any changes in condition, behavior, or signs of distress.
- Administer prescribed medication in accordance with training, company policies, and CQC guidelines, maintaining accurate records.
- Respond promptly and effectively to emergencies, calls for assistance, and unexpected situations, escalating concerns as necessary.
- Complete regular checks of the premises to ensure security and safety standards are met.
- Document all relevant observations, incidents, and care provided accurately and comprehensively in care plans and daily logs.
- Undertake light domestic duties to maintain a clean and tidy environment during quieter periods.
- Provide emotional support and reassurance to residents experiencing anxiety or restlessness during the night.
- Collaborate effectively with the day shift team, providing clear handovers and updates on residents' status.
Required Skills
- Proven experience in a care or support role, preferably within a night shift setting.
- Excellent observational skills and attention to detail.
- Strong communication and interpersonal abilities, with a calm and empathetic approach.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
- Reliability and punctuality are essential for night shift operations.
- Basic first aid knowledge and willingness to undertake further training.
- Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality and professional boundaries.
Preferred Qualifications
- NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Health and Social Care (or equivalent).
- Experience with individuals requiring specific types of care (e.g., elderly, dementia, learning disabilities).
- Proficiency in both English and Mauritian Creole/French.
