Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive patient assessments and develop individualized care plans.
- Administer medications accurately and safely, ensuring proper documentation.
- Monitor and interpret patient vital signs, symptoms, and responses to treatment.
- Perform wound care, basic life support, and other clinical procedures as required.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records, adhering to data protection guidelines.
- Collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams to ensure holistic patient care.
- Provide clear information and emotional support to patients and their families.
- Respond to medical emergencies and initiate appropriate interventions.
- Participate in ward rounds, contributing to patient care discussions.
- Supervise and mentor junior nursing staff and student nurses.
- Adhere to all hospital policies, procedures, and health and safety regulations.
Required Skills
- Valid NMC registration (Registered Nurse)
- Proven experience in a general ward setting (minimum 12 months post-registration)
- Excellent clinical assessment and decision-making skills
- Strong communication and interpersonal abilities
- Proficiency in medication administration and documentation
- Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team
- High level of empathy and compassion
- Sound knowledge of patient safety protocols and infection control
- Basic IT literacy for electronic patient record systems
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Nursing or equivalent
- Advanced Life Support (ALS) certification
