Key Responsibilities
- Assist patients with personal care activities including bathing, dressing, grooming, feeding, and mobility, ensuring their dignity and comfort are always maintained.
- Accurately monitor, record, and report vital signs (temperature, pulse, respiration, blood pressure) and other patient observations to the nursing staff.
- Support Registered Nurses with various medical procedures and treatments as directed, ensuring adherence to established protocols.
- Maintain cleanliness and orderliness of patient rooms, common areas, and medical equipment to ensure a safe and hygienic environment.
- Assist with patient transfers, ambulation, and positioning, utilizing proper body mechanics and equipment to prevent injury.
- Document patient care activities, observations, and any changes in patient condition accurately and promptly in patient records.
- Communicate effectively and empathetically with patients, their families, and all members of the healthcare team, providing updates and addressing concerns.
- Respond promptly and appropriately to patient call bells and requests, providing immediate assistance or escalating to nursing staff when necessary.
- Adhere strictly to all hospital policies, procedures, and infection control protocols to ensure the safety of patients and staff.
- Assist in the preparation and serving of meals, encouraging patients to eat and monitoring their dietary intake.
- Provide emotional support and companionship to patients, helping to alleviate anxiety and promote a positive healing environment.
Required Skills
- Proficiency in basic nursing care procedures (e.g., vital signs measurement, personal care assistance).
- Current certification in First Aid and Basic Life Support (BLS).
- Exceptional communication and active listening skills, with proficiency in both English and Kiswahili.
- Demonstrated empathy, compassion, and patience in patient interactions.
