Key Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive and compassionate nursing care to assigned patients on the hospital ward.
  • Conduct thorough patient assessments, develop individualized care plans, and evaluate patient responses to interventions.
  • Administer medications safely and accurately, monitor for adverse reactions, and educate patients/families on drug regimens.
  • Perform wound care, IV insertion, catheterization, and other clinical procedures with precision and adherence to protocols.
  • Maintain accurate and timely electronic health records, ensuring all patient data is meticulously documented.
  • Collaborate effectively with physicians, therapists, and other healthcare professionals to optimize patient outcomes.
  • Respond promptly and effectively to medical emergencies, demonstrating strong critical thinking and decisive action.
  • Educate patients and their families on health conditions, treatment plans, and discharge instructions.
  • Supervise and mentor junior nursing staff, fostering a culture of continuous learning and excellence.
  • Adhere strictly to all hospital policies, procedures, and national healthcare regulations.

Required Skills

  • Registered Nurse (RN) license in Jamaica (or eligibility for licensure).
  • Minimum of 2 years of post-registration experience in a hospital ward setting (medical-surgical, acute care, or similar).
  • Demonstrated proficiency in clinical assessment, critical care interventions, and emergency response.
  • Strong knowledge of medication administration, wound care management, and infection control protocols.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and team collaboration skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and demanding environment.
  • Proficiency in electronic health record (EHR) systems.
  • CPR and Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
