Key Responsibilities

  • Lead, mentor, and supervise a team of nursing staff, fostering a positive and productive work environment.
  • Oversee the daily operations of the nursing unit, ensuring adherence to clinical protocols, safety standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Develop and implement patient care plans, ensuring high-quality, evidence-based care is delivered consistently.
  • Manage unit resources, including staffing schedules, equipment, and supplies, to optimize efficiency and patient flow.
  • Conduct performance evaluations, provide constructive feedback, and facilitate professional development opportunities for staff.
  • Collaborate with physicians, other department heads, and multidisciplinary teams to ensure integrated and seamless patient care.
  • Monitor and analyze unit performance data, identifying areas for improvement and implementing quality improvement initiatives.
  • Address patient and family concerns, ensuring effective communication and conflict resolution.
  • Participate in hospital-wide committees and initiatives to contribute to overall organizational goals.

Required Skills

  • State-recognized nursing qualification and current registration (e.g., German 'Gesundheits- und Krankenpfleger*in').
  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive clinical nursing experience, with at least 2 years in a leadership or supervisory role.
  • Strong understanding of nursing best practices, patient safety protocols, and healthcare regulations.
  • Exceptional leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proven ability to manage and motivate a diverse team.
  • Proficiency in German (C1 level or higher) and English (B2 level or higher), both written and spoken.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving and decision-making abilities in a fast-paced clinical environment.
  • Competency in using electronic health records (EHR) systems and other relevant hospital software.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Nursing, Healthcare Management, or a related field.
  • Additional certifications in specialized areas (e.g., intensive care, emergency nursing, palliative care).
  • Experience with Lean methodology or other continuous improvement frameworks in healthcare.
  • Familiarity with the German healthcare system and local regulations specific to Bavaria.
  • Previous experience in a similar Unit Manager role within a large hospital setting.
