Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement age-appropriate, engaging, and creative lesson plans aligned with early childhood education standards.
  • Foster a positive, safe, and inclusive classroom environment that encourages active learning and social development.
  • Assess and monitor the developmental progress of each child, identifying strengths and areas for growth.
  • Communicate effectively with parents/guardians regarding student progress, behavior, and classroom activities.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to plan and coordinate educational activities, events, and curriculum development.
  • Maintain accurate records of student attendance, progress, and behavioral observations.
  • Ensure the classroom is well-organized, clean, and equipped with appropriate learning materials.
  • Attend staff meetings, professional development workshops, and parent-teacher conferences.
  • Adhere to all school policies, safety regulations, and ethical guidelines.
  • Integrate technology and innovative teaching methods to enhance the learning experience.

Required Skills

  • Proficiency in early childhood education methodologies and best practices.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to connect with young children, parents, and colleagues.
  • Strong organizational and classroom management abilities.
  • Creativity and adaptability in lesson planning and teaching.
  • Patience, empathy, and a genuine love for working with children.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Basic computer literacy for record-keeping and communication.
  • First Aid and CPR certification (or willingness to obtain).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Diploma or Degree in Early Childhood Development (ECD) or Education from a recognized institution.
  • Registered with the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) of Kenya.
  • At least 2 years of proven experience teaching in a nursery or early learning setting.
  • Experience with various early learning curricula (e.g., Montessori, CBC).
  • Proficiency in multiple languages relevant to the local community (e.g., Kiembu, Swahili).
