Job Description

Sanford Health is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Nursing Assistant for a Global Placement opportunity within our Sioux Falls facilities. This role is designed for individuals who are passionate about providing high-quality patient care and are eager to contribute to a diverse healthcare environment. As a Nursing Assistant – Global Placement, you will be an integral part of our patient care teams, working under the direct supervision of registered nurses and other healthcare professionals. This unique ‘Global Placement’ aspect means we are open to qualified candidates from diverse backgrounds, including those who may be seeking to re-locate or are new to the US healthcare system, provided all certification and licensing requirements are met. We offer support and resources to ensure a smooth transition into our vibrant community and workplace. You will assist patients with daily living activities, monitor vital signs, document observations, and ensure patient comfort and safety, playing a crucial role in the recovery and well-being of those under our care. This position requires strong communication skills, empathy, and a commitment to maintaining the highest standards of patient-centered care. Key Responsibilities

  • Assist patients with activities of daily living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, feeding, and mobility.
  • Measure and record vital signs (temperature, pulse, respiration, blood pressure) and report changes to the nursing staff.
  • Document patient care observations, interventions, and outcomes accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Assist nurses with examinations, treatments, and procedures.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe patient environment.
  • Respond to patient call lights promptly and courteously.
  • Provide emotional support and comfort to patients and their families.
  • Facilitate effective communication among patients, families, and the healthcare team.
  • Adhere to all Sanford Health policies, procedures, and safety standards.
  • Participate in ongoing training and professional development as required.

Required Skills

  • Current Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification in South Dakota or eligibility to obtain.
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Strong observational skills and attention to detail.
  • Empathy, patience, and a compassionate approach to patient care.
  • Basic computer proficiency for documentation.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience as a Nursing Assistant in a hospital or long-term care setting.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Proficiency in additional languages relevant to our diverse patient population.
