Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Nursing Assistant to join our dynamic healthcare team in Quatre Bornes. Key Responsibilities
- Assist patients with activities of daily living (ADLs) including bathing, dressing, grooming, feeding, and mobility.
- Monitor and record vital signs (temperature, pulse, respiration, blood pressure) accurately and report any significant changes to the nursing staff.
- Help maintain a clean, tidy, and safe patient environment, including changing linens and organizing patient rooms.
- Assist with patient transportation within the facility as needed.
- Provide emotional support and comfort to patients and their families, fostering a calm and reassuring atmosphere.
- Document patient care activities, observations, and intake/output as per established protocols.
- Support nurses and other healthcare professionals in various medical procedures and tasks.
- Adhere strictly to infection control practices and safety guidelines.
- Respond promptly to patient calls and requests, ensuring their needs are addressed efficiently.
Required Skills
- Certificate or Diploma in Nursing Assistant, Patient Care, or a related field.
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in a healthcare setting, preferably in a hospital or clinic.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a compassionate approach to patient care.
- Ability to work effectively within a team and follow instructions accurately.
- Strong observational skills and attention to detail.
- Basic knowledge of medical terminology and patient care procedures.
- Physical stamina to assist patients with mobility and perform duties requiring standing, walking, and lifting.
- Fluency in English and French (Creole proficiency is a plus).
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with electronic health records (EHR) systems.
- First Aid and CPR certification.
- Prior experience in a specialized unit (e.g., elderly care, surgical ward).
