Key Responsibilities
- Assist patients with activities of daily living (ADLs) including bathing, dressing, grooming, feeding, and mobility.
- Monitor and record vital signs, intake and output, and document observations accurately in patient charts.
- Provide emotional support and companionship to patients, fostering a comfortable and respectful environment.
- Help with patient transfers and repositioning to prevent pressure ulcers and promote circulation.
- Maintain a clean, tidy, and safe patient environment, ensuring hygiene and infection control standards are met.
- Assist nurses with medical procedures, treatments, and examinations as directed.
- Report any changes in patient condition or behavior to the supervising nurse promptly.
- Collaborate effectively with the interdisciplinary healthcare team to ensure comprehensive patient care plans are followed.
- Adhere to all facility policies, procedures, and relevant healthcare regulations.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a Nursing Assistant or equivalent role.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a compassionate approach.
- Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
- Strong observational and documentation skills.
- Basic knowledge of medical terminology and patient care procedures.
- Physical stamina and strength to assist patients with mobility and transfers.
- Commitment to patient safety and confidentiality.
- Valid Nursing Assistant certification or equivalent qualification from home country.
Preferred Qualifications
- Proficiency in both English and French (oral and written) is a significant asset.
- Experience in diverse healthcare settings such as acute care, long-term care, or home care.
- Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) or Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR).
- Familiarity with Canadian healthcare standards and practices.
