Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive occupational therapy assessments for patients with various conditions, identifying functional limitations and rehabilitation needs.
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans, goals, and interventions based on evidence-based practice and patient-centered objectives.
  • Provide therapeutic activities, exercises, and adaptive equipment training to improve patients' motor skills, cognitive function, sensory processing, and daily living activities.
  • Educate patients and their families on compensatory strategies, home modifications, and preventative measures to enhance independence and safety.
  • Collaborate effectively with a multidisciplinary team (physicians, nurses, physiotherapists, social workers) to ensure integrated and holistic patient care.
  • Maintain accurate and timely patient records, progress notes, and discharge summaries in compliance with professional and organizational standards.
  • Participate in continuous professional development activities, team meetings, and contribute to quality improvement initiatives within the clinic.

Required Skills

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Occupational Therapy from a recognized institution.
  • Current registration and valid practicing certificate with the Allied Health Practitioners Council of Zimbabwe (AHPCZ).
  • Minimum of 3 years of post-qualification clinical experience in a rehabilitation or hospital setting.
  • Demonstrated expertise in assessing and treating a diverse caseload of patients (pediatric, adult, geriatric).
  • Strong understanding of human anatomy, physiology, kinesiology, and neuro-rehabilitation principles.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and documentation skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with specialized areas such as neurological rehabilitation, hand therapy, or vocational rehabilitation.
  • Post-graduate certifications or advanced training in specific occupational therapy techniques.
  • Proficiency in using electronic health record (EHR) systems.
  • Fluency in local languages (e.g., Shona, Ndebele) in addition to English.
