In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for conducting comprehensive occupational therapy assessments for a diverse caseload of clients across various age groups and conditions, including physical, cognitive, and psychosocial challenges. Your expertise will be crucial in formulating person-centred intervention plans, implementing evidence-based therapeutic activities, and evaluating outcomes to ensure continuous improvement in client function and quality of life. You’ll engage directly with clients in clinic settings, their homes, and community environments, adapting your approach to meet individual needs and environmental factors. Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive occupational therapy assessments, including functional, cognitive, and environmental evaluations.
- Develop, implement, and review personalised intervention plans using evidence-based practice.
- Provide therapeutic interventions, including activity analysis, adaptive equipment prescription, environmental modifications, and functional rehabilitation.
- Collaborate effectively with clients, families, caregivers, and other healthcare professionals to ensure integrated care.
- Educate clients and their support networks on strategies for managing conditions, preventing further disability, and promoting independence.
- Maintain accurate, timely, and confidential client records in compliance with professional and organisational standards.
- Contribute to team meetings, case conferences, and service development initiatives.
- Adhere to all professional codes of conduct, ethical guidelines, and health and safety regulations.
- Engage in continuous professional development and reflective practice to enhance clinical skills and knowledge.
Required Skills
- BSc or MSc in Occupational Therapy (or equivalent recognised qualification)
- Current registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC)
- Minimum of 2 years post-qualification experience as an Occupational Therapist, preferably within a community or rehabilitation setting
- Demonstrable experience in conducting comprehensive assessments and developing tailored intervention plans
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and report writing skills
- Strong clinical reasoning and problem-solving abilities
- Proficiency in using adaptive equipment and assistive technology
- Ability to work autonomously and as part of a multidisciplinary team
Preferred Qualifications
- Post-graduate training or certifications in a specialist area (e.g., neurorehabilitation, hand therapy, seating and mobility)
- Experience with complex case management
- Familiarity with local health and social care pathways in Scotland
- Full UK driving license and access to a car for community visits
