Job Description

Bank of Kigali is seeking a highly professional, reliable, and experienced Office Driver to join our dynamic team in Remera, Kigali. This full-time role is essential for ensuring the safe, timely, and efficient transportation of our esteemed staff, clients, and critical company documents/materials. As an Office Driver, you will be a key support member, facilitating daily business operations by providing secure and comfortable transit for our employees to meetings, appointments, and various official duties both within Kigali and occasionally to other regions of Rwanda. Your responsibilities will extend beyond driving to include diligent maintenance of company vehicles, ensuring they are always in optimal condition, clean, and roadworthy. This involves conducting routine checks, arranging for servicing, and keeping meticulous records of vehicle usage, mileage, and fuel consumption. You will be expected to adhere strictly to all Rwandan traffic laws and internal company transport policies, maintaining a high standard of safety and professionalism at all times. The ideal candidate will possess excellent navigational skills, a thorough knowledge of Kigali’s road network, and a proactive attitude towards anticipating transport needs. You will represent Bank of Kigali on the roads, making punctuality, discretion, and a courteous demeanor paramount. This role offers an opportunity to contribute directly to the operational efficiency of Rwanda’s largest financial institution, working in a supportive environment where your contributions are recognized and valued.

Key Responsibilities

  • Safely and efficiently transport Bank of Kigali staff, clients, and official documents/materials to designated locations within Kigali and occasionally across Rwanda.
  • Adhere strictly to all Rwandan traffic laws, regulations, and company driving policies, ensuring maximum safety for passengers and vehicle.
  • Perform daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the assigned vehicle to ensure roadworthiness (e.g., checking oil, water, brakes, tires, lights).
  • Maintain the vehicle in a clean and presentable condition, both interior and exterior.
  • Manage vehicle logbooks accurately, recording mileage, fuel consumption, routes taken, and maintenance activities.
  • Schedule and facilitate timely vehicle servicing and repairs, reporting any mechanical issues promptly to the relevant department.
  • Assist with loading and unloading items as required, ensuring their safe transit.
  • Plan optimal routes to ensure timely arrivals and departures, taking into account traffic conditions and client schedules.
  • Maintain confidentiality of all sensitive information encountered during duties.
  • Represent Bank of Kigali professionally at all times, demonstrating courtesy and respect.

Required Skills

  • Valid Rwandan driving license (Class B minimum, Class C/D an advantage).
  • Minimum of 3 years of proven professional driving experience in a corporate or organizational setting.
  • Excellent knowledge of Kigali city roads, routes, and traffic patterns.
  • Strong understanding of Rwandan traffic laws and safety regulations.
  • Demonstrated punctuality, reliability, and a strong sense of responsibility.
  • Basic vehicle mechanics knowledge for routine checks and minor troubleshooting.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in Kinyarwanda and English (oral).
  • High degree of professionalism, discretion, and customer service orientation.
  • Clean driving record with no major traffic violations.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Completion of a defensive driving course or certificate.
  • Prior experience working as a driver for a reputable company or NGO.
  • Basic first aid training.
  • Ability to communicate in French (oral) is an added advantage.
  • Familiarity with GPS navigation systems and mobile mapping applications.
