Career.zycto is seeking a dedicated and skilled Office Technician – IT Hardware to join our dynamic team in Badagry, Lagos. In this vital role, you will be the cornerstone of our operational efficiency, ensuring that all our IT hardware infrastructure runs seamlessly, supporting our staff and business objectives.

This isn’t just about fixing things; it’s about proactively maintaining systems, diagnosing complex issues, and implementing robust solutions to minimize downtime and maximize productivity. You will be responsible for the full lifecycle of our hardware assets, from initial setup and configuration to ongoing maintenance, upgrades, and secure decommissioning. Your expertise will cover a wide range of devices including desktops, laptops, printers, basic server support, networking equipment (routers, switches), and peripheral devices. We are looking for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, can manage multiple tasks efficiently, and possesses excellent communication skills to articulate technical information clearly to non-technical users.

Your day-to-day will involve responding to helpdesk tickets, performing routine system checks, installing and configuring new hardware and software, and ensuring all systems comply with our security protocols. You’ll also play a key role in inventory management, helping us track our assets and plan for future hardware needs. Key Responsibilities

  • Install, configure, troubleshoot, and maintain desktop computers, laptops, printers, scanners, and other peripheral devices.
  • Provide first-line technical support to end-users for hardware-related issues, ensuring timely resolution.
  • Perform routine preventative maintenance on IT hardware to ensure optimal performance and longevity.
  • Diagnose and resolve hardware and software conflicts, system failures, and other technical problems.
  • Assist with the setup and configuration of basic network devices (routers, switches, access points) and ensure network connectivity.
  • Manage IT asset inventory, including tracking hardware assignments, movements, and decommissioning.
  • Collaborate with other IT team members to escalate and resolve complex technical issues.
  • Document technical procedures, troubleshooting steps, and system configurations for knowledge base.
  • Ensure all IT hardware installations and configurations comply with company security policies and standards.

Required Skills

  • Strong proficiency in PC hardware assembly, diagnosis, and repair.
  • Expertise in Windows operating systems (Windows 10/11) installation, configuration, and troubleshooting.
  • Basic understanding of network concepts (TCP/IP, LAN, WAN, Wi-Fi).
  • Familiarity with various office software applications (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite).
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a customer-centric approach.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • CompTIA A+ or equivalent hardware certification.
  • Diploma or Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Experience with IT ticketing systems and remote support tools.
  • Knowledge of basic server hardware and virtualization concepts (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V).
  • Prior experience in an IT support role within an office environment.
