Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and serve a wide range of coffee, espresso, tea, and other beverages following Career.zycto's recipes and quality standards.
- Operate and maintain espresso machines, grinders, and other brewing equipment, ensuring cleanliness and optimal functionality.
- Take customer orders accurately, process payments using a POS system, and handle cash transactions with precision.
- Provide exceptional customer service, engaging with patrons in a friendly, professional, and efficient manner.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and inviting coffee bar and seating area, adhering to all health and safety regulations.
- Monitor and restock inventory for coffee beans, milk, syrups, and other ingredients, reporting shortages as needed.
- Educate customers on menu items, coffee origins, and brewing methods, offering recommendations based on their preferences.
- Contribute to a positive and collaborative team environment, assisting colleagues as required and upholding team spirit.
- Adhere to opening and closing procedures, including cleaning, cash reconciliation, and preparing for the next shift.
- Handle customer feedback and complaints professionally, escalating issues to management when necessary to ensure satisfaction.
Required Skills
- Proven experience (6+ months) as a Barista or in a similar customer service role, preferably in a fast-paced coffee shop setting.
- Strong knowledge of coffee preparation techniques, espresso machine operation, and basic latte art.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills, with a friendly, outgoing, and professional personality.
- Ability to work effectively and efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining high attention to detail.
- Basic math skills for handling cash and operating a Point-of-Sale (POS) system accurately.
- Availability to work various shifts, including mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Fluent in French and English (bilingualism is highly valued in the Quebec City market and for customer interaction).
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 25 lbs (11 kg) as needed.
Preferred Qualifications
- Food Handler's Certificate (MAPAQ in Quebec) or willingness to obtain one upon hiring.
- Experience with advanced latte art techniques and specialty coffee preparation.
- Knowledge of different coffee bean origins, roasting profiles, and brewing methods beyond basic espresso.
- Previous experience in a role requiring quick problem-solving and decision-making under pressure.
- Prior experience working in a team-oriented environment within the hospitality industry.
