As an Online Tutor with Mwalimu Express, you will connect with students from diverse backgrounds and age groups, helping them achieve their academic goals. Your role will involve conducting engaging one-on-one or small-group tutoring sessions across a variety of subjects, depending on your expertise and availability. We are particularly interested in tutors proficient in core subjects such as Mathematics, Sciences (Physics, Chemistry, Biology), English, Kiswahili, and Humanities (History, Geography, CRE) for both primary and secondary school levels, meticulously following the Kenyan curriculum (CBC, 8-4-4).
Utilizing our intuitive and interactive online learning platform, you will guide students through challenging concepts, assist with homework, prepare them for exams, and build their confidence. You will have the autonomy to manage your own schedule, choosing hours that fit your lifestyle, making this an ideal role for experienced teachers, recent graduates, or subject matter experts looking for a flexible and rewarding engagement. Key Responsibilities
- Conduct engaging and effective online tutoring sessions tailored to individual student needs.
- Prepare and deliver clear, concise, and comprehensive explanations of challenging academic concepts.
- Assess student progress through assignments, quizzes, and direct interaction, providing constructive feedback.
- Develop and utilize appropriate teaching materials and resources to enhance learning outcomes.
- Maintain professional and timely communication with students and Mwalimu Express support staff.
- Utilize Mwalimu Express’s online learning platform effectively for scheduling, session delivery, and record-keeping.
- Adapt teaching methods and approaches to accommodate diverse learning styles and abilities.
- Monitor and report student performance and attendance regularly.
Required Skills
- Demonstrable expertise in at least two core academic subjects (Mathematics, Sciences, English, Kiswahili, Humanities).
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English and Kiswahili.
- Strong digital literacy and comfort with online collaboration tools and learning platforms.
- Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for teaching and student success.
- Exceptional time management and organizational skills, with the ability to work independently.
- Reliable high-speed internet connection, a functioning computer or laptop, and a quiet workspace.
- Ability to adapt teaching methods to suit individual student needs and learning styles.
Preferred Qualifications
- A Bachelor's degree in Education or a relevant academic field.
- Teaching certification from TSC Kenya or equivalent.
- Previous experience (at least 1 year) in online tutoring or classroom teaching.
- Familiarity with the Kenyan Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC) or 8-4-4 system.
- Experience working with diverse student populations and age groups.
