Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and coordinate the daily activities of operational staff, ensuring adherence to schedules, quality standards, and safety protocols.
- Monitor workflow performance, identify bottlenecks, and implement effective solutions to optimise efficiency and productivity across all shifts.
- Allocate resources effectively, including personnel, equipment, and materials, to meet demanding operational schedules and targets.
- Provide leadership, guidance, and continuous training to team members, fostering a positive, inclusive, and high-performance work culture.
- Conduct regular performance reviews and provide constructive feedback and coaching to direct reports to support their professional development.
- Ensure strict compliance with all company policies, health and safety regulations, and relevant industry standards.
- Collaborate effectively with other departmental managers and teams to streamline cross-functional processes and resolve inter-departmental issues.
- Prepare comprehensive daily, weekly, and monthly operational reports for senior management, highlighting key performance indicators, challenges, and areas for improvement.
- Proactively identify opportunities for process improvement, implement best practices, and lead initiatives to enhance overall operational effectiveness and cost efficiency.
- Manage inventory control processes with precision, ensuring accurate stock management, storage, and retrieval.
- Handle immediate operational challenges and make decisive, informed decisions under pressure to maintain workflow continuity and minimise disruption.
Required Skills
- Proven experience (minimum 4 years) in an operational supervisory role, preferably within logistics, manufacturing, or distribution.
- Strong leadership and team management abilities with a verifiable track record of motivating, developing, and retaining staff.
- Excellent problem-solving skills, critical thinking, and the ability to make quick, effective decisions in a dynamic environment.
- Proficiency in operational software, enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems, and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, capable of interacting effectively and building rapport at all organisational levels.
- Solid understanding of health and safety regulations, compliance procedures, and best practices.
- Ability to work effectively and maintain composure in a fast-paced, high-volume operational environment.
- Demonstrated ability to drive continuous improvement initiatives and adapt to changing operational demands.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a closely related field.
- Lean Six Sigma Green Belt certification or similar process improvement methodologies.
- Experience with advanced warehouse management systems (WMS) implementation or optimisation.
- Valid forklift license or extensive experience with various material handling equipment.
- Current First Aid certification.
