Your role will involve utilizing state-of-the-art diagnostic equipment to assess visual acuity, refractive errors, and ocular health. Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive eye examinations, including visual acuity tests, refraction, and ocular health assessments.
- Diagnose and manage various ocular conditions, diseases, and visual impairments.
- Prescribe and fit corrective lenses, contact lenses, and other vision aids.
- Educate patients on proper eye care, contact lens hygiene, and preventative measures.
- Refer patients to ophthalmologists or other medical specialists when necessary.
- Maintain accurate and detailed patient records and ensure compliance with all health regulations.
- Operate and maintain ophthalmic equipment, ensuring accuracy and safety.
- Stay updated with the latest advancements in optometry and best practices.
- Provide pre- and post-operative care for patients undergoing eye surgeries.
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to provide holistic patient care.
Required Skills
- Doctor of Optometry (O.D.) degree or equivalent.
- Valid license to practice optometry in Mauritius.
- Minimum of 3 years of clinical experience as an Optometrist.
- Proficiency in performing comprehensive eye exams and diagnosing ocular conditions.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a patient-first approach.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Familiarity with electronic health records (EHR) systems.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with specialty contact lens fittings (e.g., multifocal, toric).
- Certification in specific optometric procedures or treatments.
- Bilingualism (English and French/Creole) to better serve the local community.
- Prior experience working in a community-based practice or diverse patient population.
