Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Optometrist to join a thriving practice within the heart of Lynn Valley, North Vancouver. As an Optometrist, you will be pivotal in diagnosing, treating, and managing conditions and diseases of the human eye and visual system. You will conduct thorough eye examinations, prescribe corrective lenses, manage ocular diseases, and provide pre- and post-operative care for cataract and refractive surgery patients. Key Responsibilities

  • Perform comprehensive eye examinations for patients of all ages, including visual acuity, refraction, binocular vision, and ocular health assessments.
  • Diagnose and manage ocular diseases and conditions such as glaucoma, cataracts, macular degeneration, and diabetic retinopathy.
  • Prescribe and fit eyeglasses, contact lenses, and other vision-enhancing devices, providing appropriate patient education and follow-up care.
  • Provide pre-operative and post-operative care for patients undergoing ophthalmic surgeries.
  • Refer patients to ophthalmologists or other medical specialists as necessary.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed patient records in compliance with professional and regulatory standards.
  • Educate patients on proper eye care, contact lens handling, and general health practices affecting vision.
  • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure integrated patient care.
  • Stay current with advancements in optometric practices, technology, and industry trends through continuous professional development.
  • Ensure a high level of patient satisfaction through excellent communication and compassionate care.

Required Skills

  • Doctor of Optometry (O.D.) degree from an accredited institution.
  • Current and unrestricted license to practice Optometry in British Columbia.
  • Excellent command of the English language, both written and verbal, for effective patient communication.
  • Proven experience in conducting comprehensive eye exams and diagnosing ocular conditions.
  • Strong diagnostic and problem-solving abilities.
  • Proficiency with modern optometric equipment and diagnostic tools.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills and a patient-centered approach.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Minimum of 2 years of post-licensure experience in a clinical setting.
  • Experience with specialty contact lens fittings or dry eye management.
  • Interest in or experience with co-management of refractive and cataract surgery patients.
  • Familiarity with electronic health records (EHR) systems.
  • Participation in professional organizations or ongoing education beyond minimum requirements.
