Key Responsibilities
- Assist optometrists with pre-testing procedures, including auto-refraction, visual field screening, and tonometry.
- Prepare examination rooms, ensuring cleanliness and proper functionality of equipment before and after patient visits.
- Educate patients on proper contact lens insertion, removal, and care techniques.
- Manage patient flow, including scheduling appointments, confirming bookings, and handling initial patient intake.
- Assist patients with frame selection and basic adjustments, explaining various lens options and coatings.
- Maintain accurate patient records and manage electronic health records (EHR) systems with strict adherence to privacy policies.
- Perform administrative tasks such as answering phones, filing, processing payments, and managing insurance claims.
- Sterilize and maintain ophthalmic instruments and equipment according to health and safety protocols.
- Support inventory management for frames, lenses, contact lenses, and other optical supplies.
- Adhere to all health and safety regulations and patient confidentiality (HIPAA/PIPEDA) protocols.
Required Skills
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with a patient-first approach.
- Strong organizational abilities and meticulous attention to detail.
