Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare various surfaces for painting, including cleaning, sanding, scraping, patching, and filling holes or cracks.
  • Mask and protect adjacent surfaces, furniture, and flooring using tape, plastic sheeting, and drop cloths.
  • Assist lead painters with setting up and dismantling equipment, including ladders, scaffolding, and sprayers.
  • Mix, thin, and prepare paints, stains, and other coating materials according to specifications.
  • Load and unload tools, equipment, and materials from vehicles and transport them to and from job sites.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment throughout the project duration, including proper disposal of waste.
  • Learn and strictly adhere to all company safety policies and procedures.
  • Follow instructions from senior painters and project managers diligently and efficiently.
  • Perform basic painting tasks under supervision, such as cutting in, rolling, or brushing.
  • Inspect finished surfaces for quality and address minor touch-ups as instructed.

Required Skills

  • Physical stamina and the ability to lift up to 50 lbs regularly.
  • Manual dexterity and keen attention to detail.
  • Strong willingness to learn new skills and take direction effectively.
  • Reliable transportation to various job sites within the Toronto area.
  • Basic understanding of workplace safety principles.
  • Excellent work ethic, punctuality, and a positive, can-do attitude.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Comfortable working at heights (on ladders or scaffolding) when required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent secondary education.
  • Previous experience in a general labour, construction, or maintenance setting (even if informal or volunteer).
  • Basic knowledge of hand tools and power tools used in construction or home improvement.
  • Valid G-class driver's license with a clean driving record.
