Job Description

Fair Construction Ltd. is seeking a motivated and reliable Painter Assistant to join our house renovation projects in Kigali. As a Painter Assistant, you will play a crucial role in preparing surfaces, assisting skilled painters, and ensuring a smooth and efficient painting process from start to finish. While previous experience is a plus, it is not strictly required; we are prepared to train the right candidate who demonstrates enthusiasm and a willingness to learn. Key Responsibilities
- Assist skilled painters in preparing surfaces for painting, including cleaning, sanding, scraping, and patching.
- Help mix and match paints, stains, and other finishes according to specifications.
- Safely set up and take down ladders, scaffolding, and other necessary equipment.
- Apply paint, primer, and other coatings using brushes, rollers, and sprayers under supervision.
- Protect adjacent surfaces, furniture, and flooring with drop cloths and masking tape.
- Clean tools, equipment, and work areas thoroughly after each task.
- Adhere to all safety guidelines and procedures on the job site.
- Transport materials and equipment to and from job sites as required.
- Report any issues or defects in surfaces or materials to the lead painter.
- Maintain a professional and courteous demeanor while interacting with clients and team members.
Required Skills
- Basic understanding of painting techniques or strong willingness to learn.
- Physical stamina and ability to perform manual tasks, including lifting and standing for extended periods.
- Attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality work.
- Ability to follow instructions accurately and work effectively in a team.
- Reliability and punctuality.
- Basic communication skills in English or Kinyarwanda.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in painting, construction, or a related manual trade (even informal experience).
