Knight Frank Kenya is seeking a dedicated Building Maintenance Painter to join our dynamic facilities management team in Runda, Nairobi. In this crucial role, you will be instrumental in maintaining the aesthetic appeal and structural integrity of various residential and commercial properties under our management. You will perform a variety of painting tasks, from preparing surfaces and mixing paints to applying coats and executing detailed finishing work. Key Responsibilities
- Prepare various surfaces (walls, ceilings, woodwork, metal) for painting by cleaning, sanding, scraping, patching, and filling cracks and holes.
- Mix and match paints, varnishes, lacquers, and other finishes according to specifications or existing property aesthetics.
- Apply paint, stain, varnish, and other finishes using brushes, rollers, and spray equipment, ensuring even coats and professional finishes.
- Perform minor repairs to surfaces as needed before painting, including plaster, drywall, and wood repair.
- Inspect painted surfaces for quality, completeness, and adherence to established standards, performing touch-ups or repaints as necessary.
- Safely erect and dismantle scaffolding and ladders, adhering to all safety protocols and guidelines.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment, including proper disposal of waste materials and cleaning of tools and equipment.
- Provide accurate estimates of time and materials required for painting projects.
- Collaborate with other maintenance staff and property managers to coordinate work schedules and minimize disruption to residents or tenants.
- Adhere strictly to all health, safety, and environmental regulations and company policies.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a painter in building maintenance or construction.
- Thorough knowledge of painting techniques, materials, tools, and equipment.
- Ability to prepare various surfaces for painting and apply different types of finishes.
- Excellent colour sense and ability to match colours accurately.
- Strong attention to detail and precision in work.
- Good physical condition and stamina, with the ability to lift heavy objects and work at heights.
- Knowledge of health and safety standards related to painting and construction sites.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Technical certificate or diploma in painting, decorating, or a related field.
- Experience with various types of coatings and finishes, including specialized paints.
- Basic knowledge of other building maintenance trades (e.g., masonry, carpentry, plastering).
- Valid Kenyan driving license with a clean record.
