Key Responsibilities
- Prepare surfaces thoroughly for painting, including cleaning, scraping, sanding, patching, and masking to ensure optimal adhesion and finish.
- Apply various types of paints, stains, varnishes, and other coatings using brushes, rollers, and spray equipment (airless, HVLP) according to specifications.
- Mix, match, and apply paints and other finishes to achieve desired colors, textures, and finishes, ensuring consistency and quality.
- Operate and maintain painting equipment, including spray guns, pressure washers, scaffolding, and lifts, ensuring proper function and safety.
- Adhere strictly to all safety protocols and regulations, including proper handling of hazardous materials, wearing personal protective equipment (PPE), and maintaining a clean and organized work environment.
- Inspect finished surfaces for quality, rectifying imperfections and ensuring complete client satisfaction.
- Collaborate effectively with team members, project managers, and clients to ensure project timelines and specifications are met.
- Calculate and estimate paint and material requirements for projects.
- Clean up job sites daily, disposing of waste materials responsibly and efficiently.
Required Skills
- Minimum of 3 years of demonstrable professional painting experience in commercial or industrial settings.
- Proficiency in surface preparation techniques (sanding, scraping, patching, power washing).
- Expertise in applying various coatings using brushes, rollers, and airless sprayers.
- Strong understanding of paint types, primers, sealers, and their appropriate applications.
- Ability to work safely at heights on ladders, scaffolding, and lifts.
- Excellent attention to detail and a keen eye for quality finish.
- Physical stamina and ability to perform demanding tasks, including lifting heavy equipment and standing for extended periods.
- Reliable and strong work ethic, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Basic communication skills in English.
Preferred Qualifications
- OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification.
- Experience with specialized coatings such as epoxy, urethane, or intumescent paints.
- Valid Driver’s License with a clean driving record.
- Certification in operating specific heavy equipment (e.g., boom lifts, scissor lifts).
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and specifications.
- Proven experience leading small painting crews or mentoring junior painters.
