This full-time, on-site role is an excellent opportunity for someone with foundational experience in construction or a similar physically demanding environment who is eager to support skilled painters and learn the intricacies of large-scale painting operations. As a vital member of our project teams, you will play a crucial role in ensuring that all scaffolding structures are erected, maintained, and dismantled safely and efficiently, while also assisting with the preparation and cleanup of work sites. Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in the safe and efficient erection, modification, and dismantling of various scaffolding structures according to project blueprints and safety regulations.
  • Transport, organize, and manage painting equipment, tools, and materials to and from designated work areas.
  • Prepare diverse work surfaces for painting, including cleaning, scraping, sanding, patching, and applying masking tape/drop cloths.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and hazard-free job site, ensuring proper storage of tools and materials and responsible waste disposal.
  • Perform routine site safety checks, identify potential hazards, and strictly adhere to all company and provincial safety procedures and personal protective equipment (PPE) guidelines.
  • Actively support skilled painters with tasks such as holding ladders, preparing paint mixtures, handling brushes/rollers, and other assigned duties.
  • Regularly inspect scaffolding components and related equipment for any signs of wear, damage, or defects, reporting issues promptly to supervisors.

Required Skills

  • Proven ability to perform physically demanding tasks consistently, including heavy lifting (up to 50 lbs), carrying, bending, climbing, and standing for extended periods.
  • Basic understanding of construction site safety practices and the mandatory use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Exceptional reliability and punctuality, demonstrating a strong, positive work ethic.
  • Effective communication skills and the ability to follow verbal and written instructions diligently as part of a cohesive team.
  • Keen attention to detail and an unwavering commitment to delivering high-quality workmanship.
  • Valid Class 5 driver's license with a clean driving record (preferred, but not strictly mandatory).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience (6+ months) working in a construction, painting, or general labour industrial setting.
  • Fundamental knowledge of various types of scaffolding systems and their components.
  • Current Fall Protection certification or a willingness to complete the certification upon hire.
  • Current Standard First Aid certification.
  • Familiarity with basic painting tools, techniques, and surface preparation methods.
