Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the safe and efficient erection, modification, and dismantling of various scaffolding structures according to project blueprints and safety regulations.
- Transport, organize, and manage painting equipment, tools, and materials to and from designated work areas.
- Prepare diverse work surfaces for painting, including cleaning, scraping, sanding, patching, and applying masking tape/drop cloths.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and hazard-free job site, ensuring proper storage of tools and materials and responsible waste disposal.
- Perform routine site safety checks, identify potential hazards, and strictly adhere to all company and provincial safety procedures and personal protective equipment (PPE) guidelines.
- Actively support skilled painters with tasks such as holding ladders, preparing paint mixtures, handling brushes/rollers, and other assigned duties.
- Regularly inspect scaffolding components and related equipment for any signs of wear, damage, or defects, reporting issues promptly to supervisors.
Required Skills
- Proven ability to perform physically demanding tasks consistently, including heavy lifting (up to 50 lbs), carrying, bending, climbing, and standing for extended periods.
- Basic understanding of construction site safety practices and the mandatory use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Exceptional reliability and punctuality, demonstrating a strong, positive work ethic.
- Effective communication skills and the ability to follow verbal and written instructions diligently as part of a cohesive team.
- Keen attention to detail and an unwavering commitment to delivering high-quality workmanship.
- Valid Class 5 driver's license with a clean driving record (preferred, but not strictly mandatory).
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience (6+ months) working in a construction, painting, or general labour industrial setting.
- Fundamental knowledge of various types of scaffolding systems and their components.
- Current Fall Protection certification or a willingness to complete the certification upon hire.
- Current Standard First Aid certification.
- Familiarity with basic painting tools, techniques, and surface preparation methods.
