Key Responsibilities
- Provide person-centred palliative care to residents during night hours, adhering to individual care plans.
- Assist residents with personal care, mobility, and feeding, ensuring comfort and dignity at all times.
- Monitor and record vital signs, observing for any changes in health or well-being and reporting concerns promptly to the nursing staff.
- Offer emotional support and companionship to residents and their families, demonstrating empathy and sensitivity.
- Administer prescribed medication as per training and care plan, maintaining accurate records.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and comfortable environment for residents.
- Assist with repositioning residents to prevent pressure sores and ensure comfort.
- Communicate effectively with residents, families, and the multidisciplinary team.
- Document care provided accurately and in a timely manner.
- Respond promptly and appropriately to emergencies.
Required Skills
- NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Health and Social Care (or equivalent)
- Minimum of 1 year experience as a Care Assistant, ideally in a palliative or elderly care setting
- Demonstrable understanding of palliative care principles and end-of-life care
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team during night shifts
- Strong observational and reporting skills
- Compassionate and empathetic approach to care
- Reliability and punctuality
- Eligibility to work in the UK
Preferred Qualifications
- Specific training or certifications in palliative care or end-of-life care
- Experience with electronic care planning systems
- First Aid certification
