Job Description

Career.zycto is seeking an enthusiastic and highly skilled Seasonal Paragliding Instructor to join our dynamic team. While our administrative and training base is located in the vibrant heart of Chelsea, London, the thrill of flight will take you to approved paragliding sites predominantly across the South East of England and beyond, depending on weather conditions and operational requirements. This is an incredible opportunity for a certified instructor who is passionate about sharing the exhilarating experience of paragliding and dedicated to upholding the highest standards of safety and instruction.

As a Paragliding Instructor, you will be instrumental in delivering unforgettable flying experiences, from introductory tandem flights to comprehensive beginner courses and advanced skill development workshops. You will be responsible for guiding students through theoretical knowledge, practical ground handling, and ultimately, safe and controlled flights. Your role involves meticulous preparation, including site assessment, weather interpretation, and equipment checks, ensuring every flight adheres to strict safety protocols and regulatory guidelines. We are looking for someone who can inspire confidence, communicate complex information clearly, and adapt their teaching style to diverse groups of students, fostering a supportive and exciting learning environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct safe and engaging paragliding instruction for individuals and groups, from novice to advanced levels.
  • Perform pre-flight briefings, including safety procedures, equipment checks, and weather assessments.
  • Provide clear, concise, and constructive feedback to students to enhance their learning and skill progression.
  • Ensure strict adherence to all British Hang Gliding and Paragliding Association (BHPA) regulations and company safety protocols.
  • Maintain and inspect paragliding equipment, reporting any faults or issues promptly.
  • Manage flight operations at various approved sites, adapting to changing weather and environmental conditions.
  • Administer basic first aid when necessary and manage emergency situations calmly and effectively.
  • Foster a positive and encouraging atmosphere for all participants, enhancing their overall experience.
  • Complete administrative duties such as student logbooks, attendance records, and incident reports.
  • Actively participate in team meetings and ongoing professional development to enhance instructional techniques.

Required Skills

  • Valid BHPA Club Pilot or Senior Instructor rating (or international equivalent with BHPA recognition).
  • Minimum of 2 years (24 months) active instructing experience post-certification.
  • Comprehensive understanding of aerology, meteorology, and flight physics.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to instruct diverse groups.
  • Proven ability to assess risk and make sound judgments in dynamic outdoor environments.
  • Current First Aid and CPR certification.
  • Full UK driving license and access to reliable transport for travel to flying sites.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude for equipment setup, maintenance, and basic repairs.

Preferred Qualifications

  • BHPA Advanced Pilot or Tandem Pilot rating.
  • Experience with coaching and mentoring junior instructors.
  • Additional outdoor adventure sports certifications (e.g., mountaineering, climbing).
  • Multilingual abilities, particularly in European languages.
  • Experience in customer service or client-facing roles.
  • Proficiency in emergency rope rescue techniques.
