Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Paralegal/Legal Assistant to join our team in Chamarel. This pivotal role will provide comprehensive support to our management team on various legal and administrative matters, ensuring the smooth operation and compliance of our business activities. You will be instrumental in managing legal documentation, conducting research, and facilitating communication with external legal counsel. Key Responsibilities

  • Draft, review, and organize legal documents, contracts, agreements, and corporate policies.
  • Conduct legal research on various topics, including local regulations, intellectual property, and contractual obligations.
  • Assist in the preparation of reports, presentations, and correspondence for management and external legal counsel.
  • Maintain and update corporate records, legal files, and database systems with accuracy and confidentiality.
  • Liaise with external legal advisors, government agencies, and other stakeholders as required.
  • Support the management team in ensuring compliance with local laws and industry-specific regulations.
  • Manage scheduling, appointments, and administrative tasks related to legal functions.
  • Assist in the due diligence process for new projects, partnerships, or acquisitions.

Required Skills

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Paralegal or Legal Assistant.
  • Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Law, Legal Studies, or a related field.
  • Proficiency in legal research tools and databases.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and French.
  • Strong organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail.
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality and exercise discretion.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in corporate law, commercial law, or intellectual property.
  • Knowledge of Mauritian labour law and environmental regulations.
  • Ability to speak Mauritian Creole.
  • Experience working within the hospitality, manufacturing, or food & beverage industry.
  • Familiarity with contract management software.
