Key Responsibilities

  • Respond promptly and safely to emergency calls and provide pre-hospital medical care.
  • Assess patient conditions, perform comprehensive medical evaluations, and diagnose critical patients.
  • Administer emergency medications, perform advanced life support procedures including intubation, defibrillation, IV access, and trauma management.
  • Operate and maintain a wide range of emergency medical equipment and ensure vehicles are inspection-ready.
  • Safely transport patients to appropriate medical facilities while continuously monitoring their vital signs and overall condition.
  • Accurately document all patient findings, treatments administered, and transport details in electronic and paper records.
  • Communicate effectively and empathetically with patients, their families, medical staff, and other emergency services personnel.
  • Adhere strictly to all medical protocols, ethical standards, safety regulations, and legal requirements governing emergency medical services.
  • Actively participate in continuous training, simulation drills, and post-incident debriefings to ensure ongoing skill development and service improvement.
  • Maintain the cleanliness, inventory, and operational readiness of the ambulance and all medical equipment.

Required Skills

  • Certified Paramedic (Notfallsanitäter qualification recognized in Germany or equivalent).
  • Valid German driver's license (Class B, ideally C1 for emergency vehicles).
  • Minimum 2 years (24 months) of hands-on experience as a Paramedic in an emergency setting.
  • Proven proficiency in advanced life support (ALS) techniques and critical care interventions.
  • Exceptional clinical assessment, diagnostic reasoning, and critical thinking skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication abilities, with excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to remain calm, decisive, and effective under high-pressure situations.
  • Excellent physical fitness, capable of lifting, carrying, and moving patients and equipment as required.
  • Fluency in German (C1 level minimum) for effective patient interaction, documentation, and communication with medical professionals.
  • Proficiency in medical documentation and electronic patient record-keeping systems.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience working within a high-volume urban Emergency Medical Services (EMS) system.
  • Additional certifications such as PHTLS (Prehospital Trauma Life Support), ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support), PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support).
  • Proficiency in English or other languages relevant to Munich's diverse population.
  • Experience with specific medical dispatch protocols or ambulance navigation systems.
  • Leadership experience or previous role as a Field Training Officer (FTO).
